The Short Version

Calculators stay on your device. Every number you type into a reading calculator is worked out in your own browser and never sent to us.
No account, no reading profile. You can use the whole site without signing up, and we do not track what you read or build a profile across visits.
Email only if you offer it. We hold an email address only when you write to us or opt in to the newsletter, and you can leave at any time.
Ads keep it free. Google AdSense supports the tools and may set its own cookies, which you can control.

Introduction

MeReadALot (“we,” “our,” or “us”) publishes free reading calculators and guides at mereadalot.com. We designed the site to need as little of your data as possible: the tools work without an account, and the maths runs on your device. This policy sets out the little we do collect, why, and the choices you have, and is written with privacy rules such as the GDPR and CCPA in mind.

What the Calculators Do Not Send

The Reading Time Calculator, Reading Speed Test, Books-Per-Year Goal Planner, TBR Backlog Estimator, Page-to-Audiobook Time Calculator, and Book-Club Pace Planner all run entirely in your browser. The values you enter — word and page counts, times, reading speeds, book lengths, TBR sizes, and meeting schedules — are used only to display a result on your screen. They are never transmitted to us, stored on our servers, or visible to us in any way. Close the tab and they are gone.

What We Do Collect

If you contact us or subscribe: we receive the email address you provide and any message you send, so we can reply or send the newsletter you asked for. We keep contact emails only as long as needed to deal with your query, and you can ask us to delete them.

Standard server logs: like any website, our host records basic technical data such as browser type, referring page, and a shortened IP address, used to keep the site running and secure. These logs rotate automatically and are not used to identify you.

How We Use Information

To reply to messages you send us.
To send the newsletter, only if you opted in, until you unsubscribe.
To keep the site working, fast, and secure.
To meet legal obligations where they apply.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles ourselves.

Cookies and Advertising

We use only the cookies the site needs to function, plus those set by Google AdSense, which funds the free tools. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings and read more at Google’s advertising policies. We do not run a separate web-analytics tracker.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access the information we hold about you
Correct or delete that information
Object to or restrict how we use it
Withdraw consent to marketing at any time

Children’s Privacy

The site is aimed at adult readers and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Data Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the limited data we hold, though no method of transmission over the internet is ever completely secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time and will post any changes here with a new “Last updated” date.
